John 1.43-51Today we hear about two friends who have an unexpected encounter with Jesus and initially react in very different ways. Together, Philip and Nathanael help each other to understand who Jesus is and begin a journey that will redefine who they are.
Nathanael was influenced by where Jesus was from as he first interacted with him. It’s easy for us to have biases and to think ourselves or others can’t be called by God because of where we’re from, or something about our lives. How can we know that we are seen and called by Jesus, and who might we need to bring along to discover Jesus for themselves?
