There was Adam and Moses and Abraham,
and Joseph and Joshua too.
There were prophets of old who faithfully told
of a God who was loving and true.
There was John in the wild
who spoke of a child,
a man with us now on the earth;
there was Mary the mother
of Jesus – God's son –
and his holy, heavenly birth.
