Witnessing

Reflection for young people

Explain to the group that just as John was reassured about who Jesus was by what he did, we can represent ourselves to the people and communities around us through what we do.

  • Invite the group to work together to plan an event or an action that will demonstrate God's love to the people around you.
  • You might go out and offer to wash cars, or deliver sweets to all the houses in the area with a note saying that they're from the church.
  • You might offer to do the washing-up after church or deliver the church magazines for a month.
  • The emphasis shouldn't be about what you say or how you promote it, but in demonstrating the love of God in what you do.
  • Invite the young people to think about their own actions during the week and to ponder the following points for reflection.

We are called to witness – to look for, and see the work of God and to witness to it – to tell others about the work of God in the world around us.
