Advent 2

Luke 3.1-6

The big story Week 2 of 5

A time in which we accept Luke’s invitation to be caught up in the big story of God’s creation and redemption of the world.

Prepare to change

In the second week of Advent we hear John the Baptist’s message of repentance, described in Luke 3.1-6 at a very precise point in history, and we consider how John’s part in the big story can teach us about the things we need to think about as Christmas approaches.

This week provides an opportunity to:

  • understand the way Luke sets the nativity narrative in a historical and global context, and his use of Old Testament ideas (AAA and CYP)
  • explore John’s ministry and how he found the right place to hear and proclaim his message (AAA and CYP)
  • reflect on how we make space to see and hear the voice of God. (AAA and CYP)

These resources were first published in Issue 62 November/December 2012.
